Full Moon in Cancer December 2020 AstroYoga and Astrology Forecast

Your Weekly AstroYoga Forecast

It's Capricorn season, and TODAY is the full moon in Cancer.

This lunation most fully affects the Capricorn and Cancer areas of your chart, both of which were major areas of transformation throughout 2020.

Now, as Mercury and the Sun move through Capricorn, they offer you a greater capacity to shine light (solar energy) and understanding (Mercury energy) on the transits you experienced last year.

As the full moon takes place today, you're offered an opportunity to emotionally integrate your understanding of the last 12 months, as well as release any unhelpful understandings that no longer serve you.

Take time to consider what beliefs, assumptions, hopes, and fears have taken root in your life. Are they all helpful? Do you consider them active choices that you're making? Have some just been absorbed by the media, culture, and people who surround you?

This full moon is a potent moment to draw these things to mind. Consider your situation, thoughts, and emotions. Which of these would you actively choose again? Are there some burdens you've been carrying that you're now ready to release?

Choose to nurture yourself and set goals for yourself in ways that deeply resonate with you. If you draw these into consciousness in this lunation cycle, the chances are good that you'll be more fully in your power throughout 2021.

This week's AstroYoga pose nourishes the areas of the body affected by these transits.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Practice the Wind Relieving Pose (Pavanamuktasana)

IMG_2562 2.jpeg

To practice this pose:

1. Lie on your back
2. Hug your knees into your chest, either clasping hands or elbows around the legs
3. Draw your chin between your knees
4. Stay and breathe

PRO TIP

This pose uses core! Take a moment to consider how softening the belly (outer abdominals) actually allows for greater strength and a fuller expression of the posture.

Can you hold yourself in place and yet find ease?

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth and healing where there’s unrealized potential.

Welcome Capricorn Season 2020-2021: The Great Conjunction and Beyond

Your Weekly AstroYoga Forecast

Welcome to Capricorn season! This year's Capricorn season begins with an intense energetic boost from yesterday's cosmic happenings.

Yesterday was the Winter Solstice and the Great Conjunction, and these energies are intense! The Great Conjunction marked a moment when Jupiter and Saturn came together to initiate a new, 200 year cycle.

This cycle will be marked by how well you can release what you build to serve yourself in favor of using your skills for the betterment of all people. The tricky thing is: Aquarian energy (where this conjunction falls) requires you to radically affirm yourself in order to serve others.

It may sound paradoxical (as many truths do), but the greatest service you can offer to the world is to radically acknowledge and accept the truth of who and what you are.

This means digging deeper than your assumed identities and personality traits (although those topics can be fun). This means learning to navigate what it is that holds you in a particular form (external rules, internal boundaries and structures, etc) in order to find the many ways that you are free and sovereign.

When you can radically acknowledge what is, you'll find you have heightened freedom to choose what is best for you and what is best for humanity.

My wish for you each this season: May you be happy; may you be free. May all beings everywhere be happy and free.

Ask yourself: In what ways have you felt stuck, restricted, or structured recently? In what ways have you been wishing to expand? Is there a way to navigate restrictions that allows you to feel more expansive, joyful, and free?

This week's AstroYoga pose nourishes the areas of the body affected by these transits and offers solstice grounding and integration.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Practice Fire Log Pose (Agnistambhasana)

IMG_5472.jpeg

To practice this pose:

1. Take a seat, bending your left knee and placing the leg on the ground
2. Bend your right knee and hug your shin toward your chest while flexing your foot
3. Place your right foot on your left knee
4. Stay, or if your hips allow, lower your right knee toward your left foot
5. Stay and breathe
6. Repeat on the other side

PRO TIP

Listen to your hips! Don't force your pelvis/femur bones to go someplace they're not ready to go. Everyone's hips are different. Choose to go to a depth that feels good.

Alternately, if you're highly mobile, feel free to lean the body forward until you feel a pleasant stretch. Keep breathing to stay grounded.

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth and healing where there’s unrealized potential.

The Great Conjunction and Grounding Eclipse Energy

Your Weekly AstroYoga Forecast

Yesterday marked the Total Solar Eclipse/New Moon in Sagittarius, and with it came an influx of Sagittarius energy that will be available for use in the coming six months.

This week, the Sun moves toward the Solstice which is Monday, Dec 21. This Solstice is particularly intense because it coincides with a Great Conjunction in Aquarius.

'Great Conjunction' refers to the moment when Jupiter and Saturn meet in the sky. This happens every 20 years, but this one is extra special for a couple reasons.

With one exception, this is the first time a Great Conjunction has been in an air sign for 800 years. It's also the closest these planets have ever been in 800 years. (Fun fact, from our vantage point on Earth, Saturn appears closer to Jupiter than some of Jupiter's own moons!).

This energy is MAJOR, and it's up to you to consciously integrate this major event into your life. How to integrate these energies? Explore these major themes:

Jupiter offers expansion while Saturn offers boundaries and restrictions. How can you expand yourself by creating your own structures and boundaries (rather than abiding by those rules and regulations given to you by another)?

This energetic dynamic in Aquarius asks you to innovate beyond what's been done before. Are there outside-the-box solutions to challenges you've been facing? When barriers pop up, can you innovate in order to expand beyond them?

If you have your chart, check out where Capricorn and Aquarius begin. These will show you where and how these energies are most likely to affect YOU.

This week's AstroYoga pose nourishes the areas of the body affected by these transits and offers deep rest for the Solstice.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Suptabaddhakonasana.jpeg

Practice Supta Baddhakonasana (the Reclined Bound Angle Pose)

To practice this pose:

1. Lie on your back
2. Place the soles of your feet together and allow your knees to open wide (blocks or pillows are an option under the knees)
3. Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your low belly
4. Stay still for several minutes, watching your breath

PRO TIP

Get as comfortable as possible and do nothing. Allow your mind to follow sensations through your body. What is arising from your tissues into your consciousness?

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth and healing where there’s unrealized potential.

Total Solar Eclipse 2020: Your Weekly AstroYoga Forecast

Your Weekly AstroYoga Forecast

Here comes another TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE! It seems like just yesterday when the 2016 solar eclipse happened in the sign of Leo. This time, Sagittarius energy is in for some big shifts on December 14 as the eclipse and new moon shake things up.

Eclipses are portal moments, liminal stages that exist in a state that's somehow between one way of being and another.

Liminal stages represent the times when change is possible, and this eclipse, the change you can make is with your relationship with truth, expansion, and play.

Sagittarius energy drives individuals and society to look at the major, universal truth of life, that esoteric thing that's so complete that it can never quite be fully expressed in words. Because of its wholeness, it also offers you the ability to explore and to play.

Has life been missing zest for you lately? This eclipse is a moment when you can call that in.

Are you seeking to make major shifts that allow you to live a more honest, complete, authentic-to-you life? Now is the time to set your intentions or make the big change.

Ask yourself: what is it you'd like to see change in your life? Where would you like to experience more truth and alignment? In what area of your life could you invite more exploration and fun?

This week's AstroYoga pose nourishes the areas of the body affected by these transits.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

sagittarius.jpeg

Practice the ultimate Sagittarius posture: Akarna Dhanurasana (archer's pose)!

To practice this pose:

1. Sit with your legs extended
2. Clasp the big toes with the hands, or place right hand to right toes and left hand along the left leg (as is comfortable)
3. Draw your right foot back (as if drawing back a bow string)
4. Gaze forward with focus
5. Release your foot and 'shoot' your arrow
6. Repeat on your left side

PRO TIP

Don't worry about how close your foot gets to your ear. Don't worry if you can't hold onto the toes of the extended leg. Don't worry about anything.

Rather, allow the breath and the gaze to be the focus of the practice. The mobility will come in time.

Alternately, for those of you who are extra mobile and want to take the foot behind the head, that's also a fun variation if it can be done with ease!

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth and healing where there’s unrealized potential.

Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse in Gemini 2020

It’s the lunar eclipse in Gemini, which means your mental/emotional state might be on overdrive as you contemplate how your small, relative actions, words, and thoughts play into your BIG picture dreams and vision for the world.

This is a moment of release as we collectively recognize that no matter how busy we are, we can’t know everything and we can’t always see the full picture of where we’re going.

Full moon ritual for this moment: write down everything that’s circulating in your mind, emotions, actions, and spirit. Take note of the things you have direct control of and turn them into a separate list. Then burn, tear up, or wash the rest of the list, offering it up to the release of the moon.

Remember: You are already (and always were) enough. 💜

Neptune Direct, PLUS AN ECLIPSE: Your Weekly AstroYoga Forecast 11/24-12/1/2020

Your Weekly AstroYoga Forecast

This week, get ready for a watery infusion. Neptune, the planet of dreams, illusions, and disillusions, is moving direct in Pisces this Saturday. Neptune has been retrograding since June, so this is a big shift.

Neptune rules Pisces, which is the sign of art, music, mysticism, meditation, spirituality, and deep inner/transcendental work. This retrograde was all about digging deep into the fabric of collective and individual reality.

As Neptune retrograded, the questions of illusion and disillusion were able to be seen for what they were. This was a time of collective and individual questioning of the narratives and half truths believed in the past.

As Neptune prepares to turn direct only moments before a full moon/eclipse, this is a moment of great potential energy to create major shifts in our perspectives on fluid reality.

To harness the energies of this Neptunian eclipse moment, ask yourself:

Are there narratives or truths you've been accepting that seem off in some way?

Where have you been accepting partial truths or false narratives in your life?

Are there ways you can align more fully with truth on every level, from your soul's deep truth to the universal truths of nature?

Where have you been accepting narratives pushed by others rather than the observable truths of your own reality?

This week's AstroYoga pose nourishes the areas of the body affected by these transits.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Practice Revolved Hand to Big Toe pose (Parivrtta Hasta Padangusthasana)

IMG_3982.jpeg

To practice this pose:

1. From standing, shift weight into your left foot and pick your right leg up
2. Bend your right knee and EITHER place your left hand on the outside of your right knee OR grab the blade of your right foot with you left hand
3. Straighten your knee any amount
4. Twist to your right and extend your right hand behind you
5. Stay, balance, and breathe
6. Repeat on the other side

PRO TIP

The nature of yoga (and life) is pulsation. Can you find the natural dance between how much you draw your energy into your midline and how much you expand out into your periphery? Can you press down to the earth while rising equally to the sky?

These daces of energy are the keys to sustaining this posture for any amount of time. Can you feel the ways that self each action is necessary to hold the posture?

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth and healing where there’s unrealized potential. Want to know more? Book a reading!

Your Weekly AstroYoga Forecast: Scorpio-Sagittarius MashUp

Scorpio season is finishing up, and Sagittarius season is about to begin. The Sagittarius and Scorpio energies will be intertwined for a while, since this Saturday the Sun enters Sagittarius at the same time Venus enters Scorpio.

What these energies have to offer you is the deep integration that was sparked by last weekend's new moon in Scorpio.

As Venus begins her transit of Scorpio (and the Sun finishes his), you're called to look deeply into how you love. Are there shadow sides to the patterns you have in your romantic, artistic, and loving relationships with yourself and others? Do you find yourself seeking love, beauty and enjoyment in ways that serve aspects of your psyche that still exist in shadow?

As the Sun enters Sagittarius, now is the moment to shed light on those patterns. While Scorpio energy knows how to traverse the shadows in your psyche, Sagittarius knows exactly how to see clearly in the dark.

Sagittarius is the star gazer of the zodiac, the sign most able to look into the darkness to find tools for navigation and inspiration for the great journey ahead.

If you use these energies well, you'll not only become familiar with your unconscious patterns, you'll be able to navigate yourself into a bigger-hearted, more aware place.

Ask yourself: What is it that you truly want in terms of love, beauty, and artful living?

In what ways do you ask, or don't ask, for these needs to be met?

In what ways do you seek for these needs to be met? Could you become more conscious of your drives and desires in these areas?

Are there behavior or thought patterns that move through you in difficult moments that you don't understand?

This week's AstroYoga pose nourishes the areas of the body affected by these transits.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Practice Uttanasana (standing forward fold)

IMG_0207.jpeg

To practice this pose:

1. From standing, make the feet parallel and press down through both feet evenly
2. Take a deep inhale and lengthen the spine
3. Gently tip the pelvis forward as you fold toward the legs
4. Either stop when you can go no further with a long spine OR bend the knees so you can fold further
5. Breathe and relax

PRO TIP

If your ribcage is pressing into your thighs (by bending the knees or otherwise), create some spinal traction and length by pulling gently on the toes or by hugging the calf muscles. You'll find gentle length in your spine that feels something like an inversion table--Aaaaah.

Notice what feelings come up for you in this pose. Does it seem too simple? Worthwhile? Pleasant or unpleasant? All of these feelings will tell you something about your present experience in yoga and life.

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth and healing where there’s unrealized potential.

Your Weekly AstroYoga Forecast: Big Energy For November 2020

Your Weekly AstroYoga Forecast

This week has a couple notable astrological events, and they all have to do with new directions and deeper depths.

Today Mercury, the planet of communication and thought, enters Scorpio, the sign of seeing deep truths. Use this energy to stare unflinchingly at the truth concealed in the depths of your thoughts, your words, and the communication from others.

Mercury in Scorpio reminds you that appearances aren't always what they seem. If you engage with this energy, you will have the power to see through shiny exteriors to the depths hidden within.

This weekend's New Moon in Scorpio will assist you with this, offering you a chance to take Mercury's skills in new directions of your choosing.

Ask yourself, into what would you like to see more deeply? Is there an area of your life where surface appearances have left you without access to true, deep knowing? Now is a great time to explore those depths.

This energy is heightened by Mars ending his retrograde in Aries on Friday. Mars rules action, and Aries rules the individuated self, so this final stage in the retrograde is a perfect time to reflect on what actions truly resonate with YOU.

As Mars stations direct, you have the heightened capacity to put your vision for the world into action.

If you engage with them, you can use this week's energies to truly align with yourself, taking action and seeing clearly the path forward (even if you realize there's more to the path than you originally thought).

This week's AstroYoga pose nourishes the areas of the body affected by these transits.

ASTRO YOGA TIP OF THE WEEK

Practice garland pose (Malasana)

To practice this pose:

1. From standing, turn the knees and toes out slightly
2. Bend your knees and descend your hips toward the ground
3. Draw your hands to heart center
4. Broaden your chest and breathe

PRO TIP

Engage mahabandha here! Start by engaging your pelvic floor (mulabandha). Then draw your low belly up toward the spine (uddiyanabandha). Finally, draw the chin in slightly (jalandharabandha).

How does it feel when you breathe into these bandhas (energetic locks)? What changes about the posture?

My advice on how this asana connects with astrology is general. Your personal chart will offer more specific advice on what sorts of activities could fortify your best qualities and encourage growth and healing where there’s unrealized potential.
